Good Story

75-88 lb packs? Are you kidding me? You guys were doomed from the start.
Those are some pretty pictures though.

Great photos

I have to agree with Nick. But I'm sure you learned that lesson by now. 40-55 lb packs would probably be more appropriate in the future.

Amazing effort given the circumstances and quite the first time presence here on SP.

Re: Great photos

Yeah, we won't be packing like that again, that's for sure!

Amazing photos!

Absolute incredible color and sharpness. Did you haul a full frame DSLR on the route??

Re: Amazing photos!

I did, Canon 5DII and 24-105. Usually my kit includes the 24 TS-E-II, sigma 50 art and 70-200 2.8 IS II, but due to weight and space I rented the 24-105 as my do-all for this trip. Not quite as sharp and clear/contrasty as my best lenses, but I wouldn't have wanted to carry any more!

Re: Amazing photos!

Despite not having your best lens the shots are incredible. I admire the dedication of climbers who opt to carry a full DSLR setup. That's a lot of extra weight.

Incredible Photos

Your photos are incredible! Do you use a filter on your lens? If so what type? I love the softness you are able to get in your shots.

Re: Incredible Photos

I had a polarizer on the majority of the time, but the softness comes from my post processing style that I've used for many years. The actual methods I use are always changing as new software developments and such come out, but I've tailored my exposure settings and shooting style to feed into a post processing workflow to maximize detail through the dynamic range.

Did you see us?

We were on the traverse June 25-28 and found a group that sounds like it might be yours. We camped with this group at White Rock and Cub Lakes.

Re: Did you see us?

I was also in the party of three (with kbreth) that shared the last two camps with you. We had no idea what you had been through previously. It was certainly hot(!), but an absolutely beautiful trip. Your pictures capture it perfectly. And I am glad to hear that your trip out went smoothly.
