Goat Trail?So people walk on this thing? Certainly without any ropes, how wide is it? I'm not too bad with exposure but I don't like the possibility of falling to my doom.

Re: Goat Trail?Yes, people do indeed walk on the trail, and yes, no ropes necessary, but NEVER do it in bad weather. Width and exposure vary; sometimes it's not too bad, other times, well, you definitely concentrate on where you place your feet! (I'm not aware of any fatalities having occurred on this trail.)

Re: Goat Trail?How wide is it? It looks like no more than a couple of feet. Seems like it would be completely amazing if you weren't too scared though.

Re: Goat Trail?In places it is only a couple feet, other times it is more; the "hugging the cliffs" part of the trail is approximately 4 miles in length, so of course the width and exposure varies over that distance, sometimes being wide enough that footing and immediate exposure are no problem. I estimate the combined sections of narrow trail and exposure to be about 2 miles long; the nice thing, though, is that it's not a contiguous 2 miles--the difficulty is broken up, providing mental breaks from the concentration. It is indeed an amazing outing--take it if you have the opportunity! And do it with friends; it's a great thing to share.
