Punta del Tuf, end of August 1986

This was a marvelous day! I started early in Eaux-Rousses and followed the trail in perfect weather through the breathtakingly gorgeous high valley leading to the Col Lauzon on 3296 meters. It is a clear and well-marked trail all the way to the col, without the slightest difficulty. From the col it is a fairly easy 100-meter scramble to the Punta del Tuf's highest point. One has a wonderful view to all sides; a magnificent view to Punta Bianca and Grivola to the north (see also Antonio Giani's photos!) and to the mountains of the Canavese, the Gran Paradiso massif and the Vanoise on the other side. I went down to the Vittorio Sella hut afterwards, which was the beginning of another wonderful and unforgotten two days!
