Here in Europe these butterflies (or their relatives) are called comma. And in Germany they are "C-Butterflies" because of their form when they close their wings.

That is funny! Butterfly names are much more creative than the names of a lot of mountains I see. How many Baldy Peaks do we need? Here's a link to where I found the species name.
