Rabbit Ears (South is on...

Rabbit Ears (South is on left) and Panorama Point (on right) as seen from (east) FS road 850 overlooking the Turkey Monster. Both standard summit routes on the Ears (North Rabbit Ear - The Cave Route and South Rabbit Ear – Standard Route) start in the notch and climb to top mostly on the opposite side (November 6, 2004).

nice job

Great climb and great pictures - Sounds like a few more bolts have been added since I last climbed the first pitch of this one. - Did you two free the whole thing? or did you aid any of it?

Again, nice job

Re: nice job

Thanks Mark.

P1 is well bolted with all bolts (but one high up) being fairly new-looking. P2 is a mix with enough new-looking bolts to make it seem safe.

I only wish I was able to do it clean....P1 I rested a couple times; P2 crux traverse was pretty much A0 for me (I thought that was quite hard and definitely MUCH harder for me than P1....even though Jim Anglin gives both pitches the same rating).

BTW, that S. Rabbit ear route looked spooky - looked quite loose and runout. Nice job!

Lots of good-looking "adventure-climbs" in the Menagerie - did you see that Royal Arch? Looks pretty awsome!

Re: nice job

we have hiked to and studied closely the Arch - very cool looking route on it, at the time we didn't have the guide book, so all we could see was some old manky bolts going up, and no for sure info on whether there was an anchor on top - I would hate to have climbed it and then found the only way down was to down climb. YUCK!!!!!

Lots of interesting routes up there - unfortunately the climbing season is very short due to the nesting birds.
