This was my fifth summit in a challenge. For the first two miles it was quite dry, and the top had plenty of snow. It was extremely windy toward the top. I did not wear snowshoes or snow spikes.
Snowshoe up and down, windy at the summit. Someone left us a beer in the summit register!
Warmup climb. Drove in the short 4x4 road to the trailhead sign.
Easy up and down. The best views are only just when you summit. On the way up we met a fellow pushing a bicycle uphill in the wilderness. We talked a while and he turned around,
nice route up the ralston trail, then down to lake aloha and out thru echo lake. wildfire smoke killed the views but it was a nice hike.
Great views from the top!
Party of 2 snowshoe trip breaking trail through about 1 foot of fresh powder. 3 miles and about 2 hr 45 min to the top from Ralston trailhead. 2,750 ft elevation gain. Heavy wind gusts and -2 degree wind chill at the summit.
Did this while getting over a cold, not the best idea... but we made it! There was some fairly deep snow toward the top, and some ice lower down in the shade. Great views all around.
Snow covered from trailhead to the summit. Did not use snowshoes and had to break trail all the way to the top. Also bagged Becker Peak in the afternoon.
Still quite a bit of snow. Fun ridge with John.
From Echo Lakes - Becker, Talking Mtn, Pk 9155 and Ralston, returned via the PCT. Traverse was a big slower going than I expected, was hoping to tag Cracked Crag too but ran out of time.
I wasn't sure if it was the best idea, but a friend of mine and I hiked this today even though I ran a very tough trail half marathon yesterday, but I survived. We did it in about 5.5 hours car to car.
Since 2010, I have climbed this mountain at least 5 times that I can count. I know the scenery well...it is not very difficult to climb, and has beautiful views on the summit.
beautiful day with fresh snow after the last storm. Clear enough for a view and started snowing on the way down.
climb it every thanksgiving. just enough snow to make it fun. a a thighburner to get rid of all the calories in my stuffing and turkey
Great weather for a hike.
Nice views of Pyramid! 2:33 round trip.
Went up the Mt. Ralston Trail from Hwy 50, took the shortcut trail to the summit from the ridge, went down the regular trail towards the West, then down to the PCT and on to Lake Aloha. Returned the same way but stayed on the Ralston Trail back around the summit rather than over the top. 1:23 up to the summit, 5:37 total trip.
Last peak of a long day after doing a loop of Pyramid, Agassiz, and Price earlier.
I would do a run up every now and then after finishing work at the echo lake chalet in summer. Epic trail run!
No need snowshoe anymore, only a few snow fields will wet your shoes.
