The Sainte Marguerite river towards the final leg of its course. This salmon river running parallel to the Saguenay at it's confluence is apparently the site of occasional beluga gatherings on the fjord. Despite the lack of appealing topography following a shallow river (or stream) further up into the hills , it is a rewarding experience either uncovering any associated wildlife or ultimately a hilltop lookout once exploring the forbidding depths of an evergreen wilderness which for a person like myself may include the additional reward of a mineral outcrop which may hold a bounty with symbolic value...
