Rapping the wet cliffs

Rapping the wet cliffs

Karl in the red circle rapping down the dead end cliff you come to on the hike down the west side of Cougar Rocks. Many trees to choose from but lots of stuff to clean on the rap down. Luckily we had a decent line and no problems although I had to pull the rope out of trees and rocks on the way down.

I'm never going back

for more of this basalt-moss chunkiness climbing! Says the sane part.

...yet part of me loves these adventure outings.

Are you thinking of Katanai Rock for near term future Brian? Did you per chance get Tim Olson's cool new guidebook on Gorge climbs?

Re: I'm never going back

Try googling Katanai Rock and your note here comes up #2. How is THAT for a lack of information on this one? :- )

I'm done with the bushwhacking for this year (as far as I know). I'm good groveling through in Spring and Fall but Summer gets too overgrown and buggy for me. Looks like a neat one for late Fall early Winter though. Did the Mazamas ever clear a trail on this one?

I've not yet gotten Tim's book but it is on the list of things to get.

Haydar and Karl and I were talking about your St. Peters Dome page at CS the other night. Wish I could have made the slide show.

Re: I'm never going back

don't know - there was something about that on portlandhikers forum but I think they ended up not doing the clean up there (??).

on st. pete's, I'm glad it's over & I'm still breathing.
