Mid-May Summit
This was my second time hiking this trail, but the first time with my wife. The day was beautiful and clear at the start (8:25 AM) but the clouds rolled in as noon approached. We accidentally found a geo-caching box on top and signed it and left an item.

Success
Carried my 11 month old son Ian to the summit in the kiddie backpack. My wife, Ian and I had a short picnic on the summit. The final twenty feet or so to the top was a minor scramble but remains non-technical if you poke around long enough. We didn't see a sole all day.

Nice, quiet tucked away mountain
Don't remember the route, just remember the solitude. Neat back-side views of Pikes, too.

from Upper 4 Mile Rd
This is an excellent hike that you can squeeze in a few hours. We followed the old road w/o any problems and the trail was actually cairned. Still plenty of snow drifts, but not enough to warrant snowshoes. Great views of Pikes from the summit.
Route Climbed: Standard route from Cantabarry Dr. Date Climbed: Oct. 1, 2005
From Divide I drove 1.9 miles and took a left on Cantabarry. I drove for 1 mile to a gate and parked. Look for the trail that runs under the powerlines and goes up to the ridge on the south. One once on the ridge you reach a road to whcih you can follow to make the summit. Good colors in all the aspen trees this time. I enjoyed the views of Sentinel Point, the Carigs, and the reservior. Great day for a hike
