Rattlesnake Mountain Trail  Sucess!

Really cool alternative to climbing at Rumney. Steep, but short and great views.

Berries!  Sucess!

Nice hike, beautiful day! Found lots of blueberries at the top and some gorgeous views in all directions! The trail was busy at the base, but surprisingly quiet at the top. Spent a few lazy minutes on the ledges, eating berries and just enjoying the views before heading out to the Newfound Lake for evening kayaking. While there we also visited the Sculptured Rocks and we did some rock climbing at the Rumney Rocks next day. Beautiful area!

nice views  Sucess!

Too lazy to climb on a hot day, took a walk instead. Trail was remarkably smooth with sustained moderate grades, would make a good training run (as long as you're careful on the summit ledges in bad weather). Surprisingly good views from the bare rock rib at the top. Huge drop-offs from the southern end of the loop, wasn't really tempted to rappel down as the climber's guide suggests.
