Started at the 8900' gate. Up Red, over Monument and off to Table. Super cool ridge. Lots of views for relatively little work.
Road trip! On the traverse to Table. Trip report
Along with 10,136 and Table.
Smoke made it hard to get any good views.
On the way out to Table Mountain 7/28/12
had a successful climb of Red and continued over the ridge to Table Mtn. Unfortunately the ID wildfire smoke really blew in on my hike, so my respiratory system played a big part in the adventure. Pretty impressive area with great access; I parked below the lookout gate and was above timberline in minutes. Started after work at 1645 and finished in 4 hours - and in total darkness.
Hit Red and Monument - stopped short of Table due to snow
Hiked up the road to the lookout with my parents on a windy fall day. Cruised up to the top to check out the excellent views.
Must do hike if your around Butte. Lots of snow on the road, had to park in the clearing at the bottom. Much easier when you can get to the end of the road, been up there many times since, good workout.
Hiked over Red Mountain on my way back from Table Mountain. Beautiful day.
I climbed the mountain with Rocker Pauly in winter and rather icey conditions.
this was one of the first mountains I climbed, I must have been 7. I've climbed it twice since, both times in winter conditions.
Tried to get to the summit of Red Mountain today but had to turn around about 400 vertical feet from the top because of very high winds. I was crawling on my hands and knees when I got blown over by a large gust of wind. At that point I decided to turn back. Even though I did not make it the top I was still pleased with my accomplishment being that it has only been six weeks since I had surgery to reconstruct my ACL. Anyway another great day up in the mountains.
One week later and even warmer. Snow is melting fast.
Great day to be in the mountains. see trip report
Started out at the gate just below tree line. Hiked all the way out to Table Mountain and back. Great views and first climb in Montana
