REMAINS OF THE 1936 FOREST FIRE-ICEBERG LAKE TRAIL -GLACIER NP (1968)

This unusual image, taken in 1968, shows the skeletal remains of the trees burned during the great fire of 1936. The background is the Pinnicle Wall. Since this image is 40 years old, it would be of some interest to have a modern image from the same spot, if possible. This would show the natural progression of forestation in this environment.

things have changed

i believe the burn area is the southwest slope of Mount Henkel. lots of thick underbrush and wild flowers abound this area now. thanks for posting, amazing to see how this place continues to change over the years.
