Heaven's Hill Tree Skiing
So, rather than going up and around in the wind-blown high country we reminded ourselves that tree skiing is hella cool.
Rio Nambe serves it up quite well and is quick access from Santa Fe Ski Basin. This region of the Sangres has been a backcountry favorite since the 1940's, and there's been no shortage of enthusiasts. There's even several named slopes to explore. However, as we found once again, while the ski area is inundated with starving skiers, the backcountry is often a great place to find peace.
