Nice quick peak, great views
Straightforward hike up. Yes, there's some loose scree the last few hundred feet up, but if you poke around you can usually find a high-traction rock band to make your way along.
This a good choice for a Silver Island "sample": similar rock and views to what you get with the Big 3 to the North (Graham, Campbell, Jenkins), but at a fraction of the time, effort and drive. Roughly an hour each way.

Great climb, very fun
I really enjoyed this. Weather was perfect, clear as a bell, 65-70F with a brisk wind the whole day! The few times that the wind backed off, it felt a little hot. With the rocks soaking up that sun and a real lack of vegetation, doing this on a cool day is the way to go. View from the summit is fantastic. The whole climb is loose rock, so be ready for that. I did this on a Friday and there was NOBODY around. The nearest activity I saw was on the salt flats and even that was very little since most of it is under a foot of water with the recent heavy rains.
I parked on the north side, followed a ridge straight south until it intersected with the main ridge, took a 90-degree turn to the right, and followed the ridge all the way west to the summit. There's a ridge going up to the summit from the southwest. You can drive right up to it. Maybe I'll try that approach sometime in the future. Great climb, well worth the time.

Rishel Peak
Great peak. I followed the North Ridge route on this page up to the top. Very straightforward route up. I spent the whole day climbing peaks and exploring different areas in the Silver Island Mountains. The only downside is that there was 0 visibility. Everything was socked in and I had really no views all day. Besides Rishel Peak, I did Volcano Peak, Tetzlaff Peak and made an attempt on Peak 5278 before getting cliffed out and forced to turn back. I chalked that one up to a great exploratory hike.

Love the range, hate the shale.
Ugh. Shale is my nemesis. Gorgeous views, but I preferred Volcano. I usually have more to say, but that's all I got. Momma says if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. (I'm a spoiled brat.)
SO, this peak. Yeah this one. We took the directions on this site to hike this peak. We got there and thought, hmmmm, how do we approach this. Well we basically found a minor spur ridge that lead up to the main ridge just north of the main peak. Can I get poor life choices for 1000 Alex. I think that starting from the northwest ridge might be best and follow ridgeline. Also it looks like it might be easier to do from the southeast side of the range. There was a road that came up into that area and looked doable. Anyhow there was a TON of shale basically going straight up to the peak. It was one to knacker you, but the views! Gorgeous! Stunning! It was an on and off cloudy, some snow, lots of sun, lots of wind kinda day. Totally worth it. I might love these mountains.

Views Forever
This was the first peak I climbed in the SI range. I did it on a very hot summer day with temps hovering over a hundred degrees. It took a little route finding to decide the best approach for the summit. I climbed it from the Northwest side. I saw a herd of Bighorn Sheep near the base of where I started climbing. I've seen this herd twice before. This is the most desolate place I've ever been. I have been here nearly all day several times and not seen another vehicle.
