The burns.

When I was in the area in the summer of 2002.(way to long ago) I noticed a large burn on the north slope of strawberry mountain leaving Prarie city going south towards strawberry campground. Am I right about that? Any way sounds like a quick way to bag the peak. good route...Larry.

Re: The burns.

Yup, most of Strawberry has been burnt. Fortunately the basin containing Strawberry Lake was spared, as were most of the mountains around Strawberry.

Next time...

Next time, to make this route a little more challenging, scramble up to the ridge crest and follow it all the way to the summit, then use the actual trai to get back. The ridge offers great views to the west and east as well as makes the trip a little more interesting by throwing a bit of rock at you...

Driving Access?

Can a standard 2WD vehicle make it to this trailhead?
Or is high-clearance required?

Re: Driving Access?

Its a little rough but not too bad, mostly washboards and a few rocks here and there. My brother drove his mustang up to the trailhead several years ago, so I would say sure 2wd is fine.
