Rob Behrens leading the Burninator on Hoffman Mountain

Casting off up an unknown face can be a terrifying experience. Particularly when your last protection is a brass nut in a seam. Good thing his belayer is paying attention, no?

Yup, P1, The one in the same.

P1 is the technical crux. The crack you see, followed by some interesting face climbing and a GLASSY crux, finishing at rap chains. P2 rises up and right to reach, after 180 feet, the base of a spectacular, straight-up crack that shoots like a rocket toward the summit overhangs.

Photo by Nurse Ratchet,. The inattentive belayer is Brutus.

Cheers,
Brutus
