Rocky Mtn NP - Snowbank outside Alpine Visitor Center in August

Alpine Visitor Center snowbank - August 2008. This is about twice the amount of snow we saw in 2000. The winter of 2007-2008 was a record year and the snow melt was late. In addition, snow fell about a week after this photo briefly closing Trail Ridge Road in mid-August.
