Rough road ahead

A high clearance vehicle is needed to get to the trailhead if you go via the Pine Lake way. Another route goes up from Water Canyon but will not be described here. Mike Kelseys book on the Paria River area covers that route as well as another trail nicely.

Dixie National Forrest Bound

Thank you for posting these wonderful pictures. Even at my age, it still makes my heart leap with excitement when entering the area and even when only thinking about it.

Pine Lake and surrounding areas have been the highlight of my life and in annual trips for more years than I can remember – a lifetime, especially when getting to be there with my son, Mijo. Priceless memories have been created there with him.

Pine Lake, Powell Point, Barney Top, Pine Lake, Henderson Point, Bryce, Panguitch, Widtsoe, Escalante, and the entire area are perhaps my favorite place outdoors on earth. It has indeed brought some of my happiest and "free" moments in life and has brought peace while there. The beauty is exhilarating and breathtaking. No matter how many visits are made, there are always new and amazing exploration and exciting experiences to be had. I do not know of any out of doors area that I would rather be. It could well be said that it is indeed the happiest outdoor place on earth for me.

How could anyone visiting this area not know in their heart that it was created by the Master? It is all a giant cathedral carrying an indescribable spirit of incredibility and grandeur.
