Round Hill  Sucess!

Before work, I climbed Round Hill. Most of the route was along an old closed road, but the last part of the route had some "interesting" bushwhacking through some young aspens. It was a nice hike, but the views weren't as expansive as they were from the other summits I have climbed in the area.

From Breakneck Pass  Sucess!

The drive up to Breakneck Pass was harder then the peak. Very quick walk up from the pass.

Via Breakneck Pass  Sucess!

A great first hike for my flatlander parents and our dogs. The only other people we saw were 2 ATV's on the 4WD road.

South slopes  Sucess!

Almost as soon as we locked the truck and shouldered our packs, a coyote hopped out of the woods, curious to check us out. The wild dog ran off into the trees, but our (thankfully leashed) dogs let us know we were being shadowed for the better part of a half hour. The south-facing slopes were snow-free and tree-free, making for very easy going. However, once we reached the treed summit plateau, we encountered deep, unconsolidated snow and cussed and postholed the rest of the way to the summit. Hiking partner: Husband. Dogs: Lady, Bing & Lela.
