Round's neighbor to the NW, Pk 5053. It is known by such names as "Eye of the Round," "Orbit Peak," and "Quae-hae-eths." Pk 5053 was our next destination. It didn't take long to get there (less than an hour). The rufescent rock just before the summit was not like anything else encountered in the area. It reminded me of the rock on Boston Peak and the south side of Big Four Mountain. It was loose, lousy stuff that would have been a real problem if it had been any steeper. I'm guessing it was metamorphosed Chilliwack Group phyllitic argillite and/or slate. The mountain on the the left is "McGillycuddys Peak" (Pk 4200+). June 19, 2004.
