Route Choice from Gunsight Pass

This picture is taken from atop GunsightPass, from here you can either continue forward on the trail dropping back into this basin or traverse around the unnamed peak to your immediate right. If you drop back into the basin you will add 1 - 2 miles to your trip and lose several hundred fee of elevation, however there is a straightforward and easy to moderate trail. If you head right and traverse around the peak you will maintain altitude and shorten your distance, however there is only a slight use trail, you probably will not get lost but the difficulty of the trail will slow you down. In my honest opinion, stick to the trail and drop back into the basin, I did not do this but later thought it would have saved time to stick to the trail.
