Llauset-Collado Ballibierna-Collado Bucardos (izards)-Russell Oriental- Aguja Sur-Russell S.E.-Russell-diagonal NW-Aguja SW-brecha Soler i Coll-Ibones de ballibierna-collado de ballibierna-Llauset... more than 13h. It was for us one of the most amazing days in this zone. We used the rope only in Aguja SW.

We spent a rought night in the very crowded Balliberna refuge. Folk had come down off Aneto without summitting that night because of bad weather.
Next day looked fine at 7am. Shadow in the valley until we got to the first ibon (lake). From then on, a spectacular day.
Ricardo found the boulderfield a bit hard going - I loved it! My kind of terrain.
We couldn't at first find the ascent on to the diagonal canal that slopes up to the antecima but we found a way to get onto the path and from then on it was fine, just scrambly in places.
From the top we could see the cross on Aneto!
There were very few folk around - it was a magical place to be that day.
We had to wait 2 hours for the bus down from Ballibierna. The first was full and - there should have been 2 buses in operation - the second had broken down.
O, actually we only did Pico principal and SE...I would have liked to have done the Brecha too, but you have to know when to stop and it was a long day for us both. Not a good idea to stretch yourself too thin.
The mountain is always there to come back to again.

Very long day as we started from embalse Llauset and also climbed Margalida and Tempestades.

The nice Pico Russell
Spectacular day. We climbed Tempestades with perfect day, all clear, taking the first bus of vallibierna. We followed to Margalida across a dangerous ridge and we descended to get the entry of normal route of Russell across the diagonal NW. We climbed Russell, Russell SE and Punta de la Brecha Russell descending to get the last bus of 18:00 to Senarta. A day to remember long time!
