Rock Art at Elena Gallegos Park. This park offers access to northern, southern, and eastern trailheads. Pino Trail and Domingo Baca Trail start easy but then become more challenging as you head into the canyons and up the mountain. Domingo Baca Trail takes you directly under Sandia Tramway...the world's longest tram. You can spend hours on these trails in solitude. This is a seriously underused and under appreciated resource.

So Called Red Tape

Elena Gallegos Park charges a weekday fee of $1 per vehicle, and a weekend fee of $3. Forest Service Trails (La Luz/Piedra Lisa) charge $3 daily. A price gladly paid for the magnificence of the mountains and a road that will not destroy my alignment.
