Serre Chevalier Skiing Resort - GR54 Hiking Tour

From a Big Tour des Écrins in summer.

Serre Chevalier, near Briançon, is a winter sports resort located in the Guisane valley in the Hautes-Alpes department, near the Écrins national park (La Salle-les-Alpes). It was created in 1941 with the construction of the cable car from Chantemerle to the summit of Serre-Chevalier (2 483 m). The historical emblem of the resort is an eagle, in reference to the coat of arms of Baron Borel du Bez.

It is the largest winter sports resort in the Southern Alps in terms of both the number of kilometers of ski runs and the number of visitors. It occupies the Guisane valley from Briançon to Monêtier-les-Bains. Located on the edge of the Écrins National Park, close to the French-Italian border, it offers access to many winter and summer activities.
