Right choice at the right time to introduce this highest of the Kaatskills. At this time of year my grandmother would read us the tale of Rip Van Winkle and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and I am looking at her 1925 copy illustrated by Eric Pape

When visiting here bring an illustrated version of these Washington Irving stories illustrated by Wyeth and perhaps the distant thunder is Hendryk Hudson and his crew bowling 9-pins in the hollow.

Add some route info, length, elevation gain etc.

I know the routes but others might not.

I have seen Slide Mountain from a distance, and it is quite impressive. There should be photos identifying the mountain identifying the mountain from the road. It has tremendous prominence.

Routes have been added in detail. Unfortunately the only pictures I have of Slide Mountain is from Hunter Mountain and it is not very impressive. I probably won't have any real good ones until at least this summer.
