StunningThat is a fantastic photo Noondueler. Too bad for that one blade of grass, but the capture of the tongue is super.

Re: Scary !Thanks CJ. I've only seen a couple in all my years hiking around the bay area. Sometimes I hike off in the weeds like this and after seeing this guy I think I'll be more cautious during the warm season.

Saw one when I workedat Sequoia NP in 1995. It was eating a squirrel.
They really blend in with their surroundings,
except for the forked tongue. Great capture!
