snow chute

My two hiking partners descend down and around a steep snow chute on the return trip from Snow Moon Basin. The game trail traverses directly across the gully, but snow tends to linger here through at least the end of June, and caution must be taken to find a safe alternative route. A tumble here could potentially send you off a large, sheer cliff high above the Cracker Lake Trail and Lake Sherburne.
