Allen Mountain rises high behind Snow Moon Lake on a cloudy July day. The prominent, triangular face belongs to the false east summit of Allen; the steep face can be safely ascended via "The Great Break" route. The actual summit is further back and to the right, and is visible through a deep gash in the ridgetop. It will take most parties at least two hours to ascend the remaining 2,500+ feet from this point.
