Songuti Peak (4460 m), Karaugom Iceshield Plateau

Songuti Peak guards the far North-East of the plateau, and the elevation of the iceshield surface is the highest at its base. We were camping in a hopeless whiteout in the middle of nowhere on this vast glacier, when the clouds suddenly parted and formed a picture-frame around Songuti. The summit of Uilpata Peak, Karaugom's tallest at 4647 m, still hides in the mist to the right. August 1985
