South Buttress

South Buttress

Shirley belaying me from just above the notch (above the class 2 section) on the South Buttress route with the two subsummit humps in the background. Below, the North Cascades Hwy. (WA SR20) can be seen (June 4, 2005).

That first move is a tough one

Did you get a running start before you jumped the 20 foot chasm? How did Shirley feel about seconding it? :)

Jim - one word: tyrollean!

;)

OK, so no free air traverses on this one - it's a low 5th downclimb (10 feet) into a notch followed by an equally exciting climb back up the other side. In retrospect should've tried jumping for more excitement :)

Hey, what a great shot. I'll bet you that Shirley is sporting one of her patented big time smiles.
