Quick trip up this easy mesa. Tagged "Castle Rock" on the way back down.
I hiked this mesa several times in the mid-late 1970s while living in Golden. We lived on Pike Street...the next street east from Quaker Street, which provided vehicle and foot access to the south-central part of the mesa. I hiked over to Castle Rock several times. Later in the 70s my step-dad, a co-worker of his, and I hiked up the steep incline at the base of Castle Rock. I hope to relive these memories and make the hike again someday. BTW, I did manage my first ascent of the hiking path up North Table Mountain on March 25, 2014...my profile selfie is from that hike.
With Jamie, Jamie and Aaron the day after the 14erworld gathering, also did North and then did some Christmas shopping in town before driving back home.
Have also been up rock climbing, but those were not summit days.
Very short hike. Smoggy/hazy skies so views weren't that great.
Nice morning bike ride. Started at NREL (Colorado Mills Pkway).
Nice little hike above Golden, nice views of surrounding area, nice day out after Thanksgiving day.
Good views of Golden.
A few times on the bike. Once I got two flats and had to walk the bike down!
Hiked up with Boris, Karina and Andres. We had a great time and enjoyed the views from the Castle Rock of Golden and surroundings.
I hiked it again back in summer of 2007 by myself.
The wife pup and I hiked this after hiking up North Table Mountain, and then we headed over to Castle Rock which has some great views of Golden.
Nice evening hike the night before a snow storm.
A good hike, close to the CSM campus. Went with a group of friends, and all made it to the top.
A nice easy climb, had a lot of fun on the castle rock.
A nice hike before heading to work in town.
Awfully windy last night! Trails are dry, though.
Good after work hike.
used to cruise up this baby frequently back when i lived in golden. always a pleasure!
This was a short fun hike I did in fall of 2002. I can't remember the date. I went for a short run on the mesa top, and then went to the summit.
Ugh, I am incredibly heat intolerant and this hot, bright sunny day on this southwest-facing trail darn near killed me. Luckily, I had fueled up just before the hike at the Old Capitol Grill. A blackened chicken sandwhich and a tall glass of beer cured whatever ailed me that day. This was my second hike of the day, after Centennial Cone just to the west. Solo.
