bail out left?looks like there's plenty of room to bail out to the left here? i'm thinking of climbing this route next weekend, but a memeber of the group would enjoy herself more if we avoided any borderine class IV. Fred, could we traverse left around these cliffs and easily regain the ridge top? Thanks!

Re: bail out left? You really cannot avoid all the difficulties. Going too far left gets you nowhere. You need to be comfortable on solid class 3 to do this route. This route is really fun and with some care you can keep any more demanding scrambling to a minimum. There's hardly any real exposure.

thanks Moniappreciate the insight. the climber in question has handled Mount Merritt and Red Mountain with no problems this year, so it sounds like this route will be a-okay! thanks again.

Re: thanks MoniHope the weather doesn't axe your plans - not looking all that great for this coming weekend. If you do it, let us know how it goes! Have fun!

Re: thanks MoniTried Calf Robe last Saturday instead... the windy forecast called for a shorter day. Long story short, we made it to around 7,400 and we turned around due to extreme winds! I'm going for Little Dog and Summmit tommorrow instead... weather looks divine! Trip report and photos hopefully on the way soon.
