It Looks So Short!

It looks so short, compared to my own image taken from the canyon rim! I wish we'd had time to spend within the canyon (other than White House ruins hike, which my son and I did). I really enjoyed your TR. Thanks! --mark d.

Re: It Looks So Short!

Mark,

I hope you and your son get the chance to venture deep into the canyon one of these days. It is an enriching, relaxing experience.

Cheers,

Sarah

Re: wow

Even if you were there, you would have to admire Spider Woman Rock from a distance. The Navajo Tribal Police would have something to say about you attempting to climb it... Apparently a few years ago some folks snuck into the canyon and tried to climb that rock and got stuck and had to be rescued (for a few years, old climbing rope could still be seen dangling from the rock). There are plenty of Navajo who believe those stranded climbers "got what they deserved".

Happy climbing!

Re: Amazing!

Eric,

It's neat that you say this rock formation reminds you of a cathedral. It also has special cultural and spiritual significance to the native people who inhabit this valley.
