Spotted Monkeyflower

Spotted Monkeyflower

Mimulus guttatus, literally "sprinkled with paint" in Latin. Monkeyflowers are the water-loving cousins of more familiar penstemons. This particular American species took Europe by storm well over a century ago, and it is fairly common by the sides of creeks and ditches there now.
