Getting There
We took the Coney Flats jeep trail and "car camped" on Saturday night. Sunday morning, we packed up and drove to the St Vrain Mountain trailhead on the Middle St Vrain portion of the jeep trail.
Ascent
We hit the trail at about 10am. You go a short distance next to the river on the Buchannan Pass Trail (I think) until you hit the junction for the St Vrain Mountain trail. At that point you start switchbacking on the steep trail through the trees.
Above treeline, the St Vrain Mountain trail continues towards Meadow Mountain. The path up to St Vrain mountain is very light, and is not a formally maintained trail. Just stay near the boundary posts for Rocky Mountain National Park and you will see it.
We didn't have our phones or watches for time, but I estimate that we reached the top at about 2pm.
