Starting point across Avalanche Lake

This is the view of Avalanche Lake from high in the dike. It gives you an idea where your starting point across the lake is located. Note that since the entrance of the dike is outside the frame of the picture on the right, one could easily start swimming immediately after the end of the first bridge where the water is shallow (and rocky)for a shorter distance. The advantage of the single rock location is that water there is quite deep giving you a better diving spot. Your choice...
