Steed for the Day

Wilderness Systems Pungo 120, 12' and 50 lbs.

As you can imagine, it's not too maneuverable in rapids and tight spots, but it can handle Class 3 water and tracks well in open water. It has plenty of storage and is very comfortable and makes an excellent choice for a long day on the water.

Here, it is beached by the Potomac River where I got out to play a little on some crags in Mather Gorge.

Hard at it....

Hard at work, are you, Bob? Looks appropriately, nicely, lazy-ish! (Wish I was there to share the effort...)

Re: Hard at it....

Just a different kind of workout, Vernon...

It's pretty good exercise for the arms paddling upstream in a strong current, and when I go downstream, I stow a wheeled cart and then pull/hike back to the car.

But the mountains it ain't, alas.

I forget-- have I told you my specific Glacier dates for July?
