Mt. Sill as seen from the...

Mt. Sill as seen from the Palisade Glacier; 'Apex Peak' is the subpeak illuminated down & to the R of the true summit. Glacier Notch lies behind the prominent cliff/buttress in the foreground. The famed Swiss Arête is the ridge in the centre of the peak bounded by light & dark. The standard 4th-class ascent route (between the main peak & Apex Peak then up) would be treacherous in these conditions (fresh snow on the ledges over the whole northern aspect of the peak)- 24 September, 2005
