Unto south ridge
Nice early morning climb unto south ridge with Bryan.

Pleasant ascent to the ridge
Second time attaining the Superior Ridge by this route. Dave, Christine & I did it 5-19-09 and then this one (6-15-10) with just Dave & me. We hit Monte Cristo and returned via the Cardiff Pass route. #3 4-24-12 w/ Dave. Still a lot of snow along portions of the ridge. The chute conditions were near perfect with some slide debris at the base and about half way up. Returned by dropping off the northeast side of the Cardiff Fork ridge down to about 9,500', then traversed up to Cardiff Pass.

Fun Climb
Climbed the chute from LCC road. The very bottom was devoid of snow and light snow partially covered loose rock about to the quarter mark. At this time we fitted crampons and used our axes. It still was a challenge even though the snow was partially consolidated from a storm 2 weeks earlier. Beneath the snow the rock was not fully cemented in place from the frozen ground. This made the assent and descent a bit stressful. Three of us climbed and summited the chute. Next time with little snow and loose rock and inexperienced partners, I'd feel better roping up for their safety and my peace of mind.

Used as a descent after climbing the south ridge. Scary!
