The proud, the majestic...the clumsy, lazy cascade marmot. Awesome shot!

Re: The proud, the majestic...Thanks :) I was there with my friend from the Czech Rep. and he couldn't get enough of the marmots...this one was there when we passed in the morning and still there when we came back a couple of hours later. His perch was right on the side of the trail so he got a lot of attention.

Small WorldI was at Summerland that very same month with my family. It was the 3rd day of our camping trip and sadly my camera battery had died. One of these lovely furry creatures sat munching away right next to the trail, I stood 6 inches from him and he never even glanced my way. I could have gotten my best wildlife shot ever! Love this one you've captured at least.

Re: Small WorldThanks! It was probably the same one. It looked like he had his place staked out and he was very comfortable with people. He had a buddy that was a little more skittish that also made an appearance. I wish the lighting was a little softer, but it was cool to get him framed with the mountain in the background.

Two Northwest classics:Mt Rainier and a marmot--great shot! I saw a lot of marmots on the railroad grade approach trail to the Mt Baker Easton Glacier route last year.
