Summit and its shadow

We shared sunset at the summit with a dozen tour vans. We wanted to linger and watch the stars, but at 7:30, a guy from the observatory came around and asked everybody to leave so that headlights wouldn't interfere with the night's telescope operations. Back down at the visitor center we joined a big crowd listening to Park Rangers discussing the night sky. Never before had I "seen" so many people standing around in total darkness together!
