Show us your contrails....nice shot dude...thats something we never get to see down under (atmospheric conditions not generally being conducive..)
What hub are they going to/leaving from?
i wonder to what degree it lessens the wilderness experience, if any? I might get the feeling i was never actually alone with all those people jetting over head all the time!

Re: Show us your contrails....I agree. I dislike contrails in my mountain photos. I suppose I could edit them out of an image after scanning it in, but that would be cheating, wouldn't it? I do edit out blemishes on the print itself, though.
The radiating pattern from the climber's head is a neat detail.

Re: Show us your contrails....Being on the summit of Mt. Shasta in June, I would say it is virtually impossible to have a "wilderness experience," planes or no. It being the single largest mountain for hundreds of miles (by thousands of feet), it gets a lot of attention from the sizeable population base of Northern California. I would guess that the planes are either heading N to Portland or Seattle, or S to San Francisco or LA. Why are vapor trails unable to be seen down under?? It seems that that high up, climactic conditions (humidity, temp) should be relatively constant, but I'm just guessing...

My home town (Perth) is not below any high altitude airways - the only traffic coming here is either gonna land, or keep going and run out of fuel! So thats the reason why we dont ever see contrails!!
