The score is 87.81. Should all votes had been 10s the score had been 89.0, give or take 0.1 units. Thus, compared with an ordinary version 2 page with 28 votes of value 10 this page score more than one unit less. The conclusion is that it requires a lot more votes of version 3 style to compete with version 2.
Well I don't agree with that conclusion. Note that in v2 the 28 votes will bring the score from 86% up to 89%... Barely a 3% change yet so many votes. In v3 those votes bring the score from 70% to 88%... An 18% difference. Each vote counts 6 times as much.
So we changed the scale. You also need to look at things like how many power points a score of 70, 80, or 90 gives you in the new versus the old system, and how many points an object with 1, 10, or 30 votes gives you. If you consider those things I think you will see that v2 really wasn't very effective when compared to the new system. If you'd like to discuss it further please refer to the forum thread on the topic referenced in the article.
I'm a real farmer when it comes to techno challenges. I'm glad you guys made the changes. Things like having a page under construction stay hidden until finished for example and the voting system etc.. Good job mate!
That appears to be already the case because I've been home with a virus working on a Carson Pass Area Range page all day and saving it as I go. It's not on the what's new page yet. That gives me more time to relax 'till it's done probably a little later tonight.

I predictSorry to say but I predict that people will stick to the old system with 10 or nothing – but for a very few enthusiasts.

Re: I predictWe'll see. Whatever happens, from now on everyone has the right to freedom of vote :), not just in theory, but in practice. That's a revolution.

Re: Thanks Chad! Thanks Windsor. More to come too. And Matt is working on making it so that under construction items don't appear on the what's new page either.
