Sunrise on Orizaba -...

Sunrise on Orizaba - February, 2001 We retreated from just above this point despite clear skies. Winds were excessively strong and the only other climbers on the mountain warned us of a radio report calling for a massive storm. Clouds formed rapidly, following us down the mountain until we reached the hut, whereupon snow fell and blew around like crazy. Fortunately we caught a ride out. The snow that night covered everything down to around 9,000 feet, closing the roads between Puebla and Mexico City. The storm grew into a Nor'easter which dogged us the entire way home to Vermont!
