I once followed the road up with my Dad when I was much younger, then the last time I rode a bike up the road to a great viewpoint. Lots of memories down in the valley below, I grew up in Upland
Hiked this as an alternative to Mt. Baldy because of weather. Great ridge!
Took the firebreak from Cow Canyon Saddle after climbing Lookout Mountain #2.
Took the leisurely walk up the fire road. Clear day and an easy hike.
nice steep ridge routes up from Potato Mt
A very warm day. Hiked up the ridge then went on to summit Colver Peak and Sunset Ridge.
Looking for a challenge close to home in my early hiking days, I took off from my house, walked up Claraboya (Mountain Avenue), took Johnson's Pasture to the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, then took a small very steep fire break that leads directly up to the dirt road leading eventually to a gated community in Glendora. I followed this a long way up (5 miles about) until reaching the summit. Wonderful view.
I later came back and did the steeper, narrowere way from Cow Canyon Saddle.
Does anyone realize this little-known peak is actually about 100 feet taller than the venerated Mt. Wilson?
This was our alternative to hiking Bighorn. A nice hike, but no views whatsoever. We made up for it with the descent down the west ridge back to the car. We will be back to capture the views of the surrounding peaks on top of Sunset.
Took the fire road up with the dog in tow. A few long patches of semi-soft snow, but otherwise road was clear. Summitted in clouds, absolutely no views. Sun made an appearance, though. Great trip!
Second climb of Sunset Peak. Nice little walk if weather cooperates. Great views make this hike enjoyable.
Beautiful day. This is a great place to sit for a while with a map.
Cool and breezy. What a perfect morning! The views from this summit are amazing.
after doing Harwood, Baldy and West Baldy from Register Ridge. Nice views -- with Coco the Dog
I went up the firebreak and down the fireroad on a coldish April day with just a bit of snow near the top.
Decided to hit both Lookout and Sunset, but it was so friggin hot! Still made it, nice views. We took the fireroad down in search of some shade..
here are my GPS tracks and a Google Map of our route.
Went up via the fire road and down the north ridge. Way too hot.
Spent many moment standing in the nude on this one. Call me what you will. I don't care and you can EaT iT. I done the fire-break and the road numerous times.
Ive always done this peak with cool people
After hiking up Timber Mtn earlier in the morning and immediately bailing on our original plans to tag a bunch of HPS peaks (fresh snow and cold temperatures), Bob and I settled on this as a consolation hike in the afternoon. Hiked along Sunset Ridge from Cow Canyon Saddle, continuing along the ridge for a way before hoofing it back along Glendora Ridge Road. Views were mostly obscured by the haze. Not the greatest weekend.
