This is amazing stuff, Mark. I'm amazed you survived with barely a scratch! You're definitely right. Complacency is the #1 killer in the mountains, and this should keep us all vigalent from now on. I always carry radios but a whistle would be a good addition as well.

Nicely done......Very real, very scary. Next time you should be the avalanche gear for that kind of climb. Happy Trails out there.

The scary thing was that avvy gear wouldn't have helped me at all in this case - my friends looked for a safe way to exit the ridge to get to me for close to an hour before they gave up and called SAR. Still, these days I always carry a beacon, but with the attitude that it's a body-recovery device, pure and simple.
