Re: 3rd class?i was glad you brought this up-Synne may be doing this sans rope but I do see the accoutrements of another class- rock slippers, hardwear and harness.

Re: 3rd class?Ok, so maybe it's more like 4th class. The exposure certainly makes it feel harder than it is. But compared to other so called 4th class sections in the Palisades, this felt easier.

Re: BalletNope, they're Sportiva's. They're kind of a cross between a running shoe and a climbing shoe, nice for when the distance is long, and the technical difficulties are low. We had a great time in the Sierra Nevada last summer, finishing the 14ers, and playing in Yosemite, though we missed the huts and hospitality of Switzerland. Next summer we're taking my parents on a tour of Norway, so it looks like the Alps will have to wait AGAIN through another summer.
Meanwhile, I'm looking into getting better skis for Lyngen.....
