Takahula Lake

Takahula Lake

Alatna River and Takahala Lake. Takahula Lake is a popular landing spot for bush pilots and hikers/climbers that travel into Arrigetch Peaks. There is a cabin somewhere down there. The nearest civilization is ~70 miles away (as the crow flies) in a small town of Bettles (its current population is about 25). The area looks beautiful and lush from afar but it is a rough and very lonely place. Walking or rather stumbling near the rivers and lakes requires incredible tenacity and patience due to tussocks and alders. Gates of Arctic National Park Brooks Range, Alaska

Fantastic

Beautiful, remote scenery from such a unique perspective. This park has been on my mind for many years. Thanks for sharing!
