Tanque Verde Ridge Trail  Sucess!

I had wanted to visit this summit for a few years now, and thought Super Bowl Sunday 2018 was the perfect day for it! It was a hot, sunny day, but lovely in every way. This day hike is one I would categorize as "purifying and humbling." The roller-coaster ups and downs take their toll. No doubt about it I was happily exhausted at the end of this day! Enjoyed a quiet solo jaunt and only encountered 8 others hikers, half of them overnight backpackers. It's been a dry year and I assume springs are dry - brave folks with heavy packs!

2 days in the Rincons  Sucess!

Bagged Mica and Spud Rock the day before. Stayed at Manning Camp. Tanque Verde ridge trail is torturous. Saw my first snake on the way down.

Tanque Verde Peak  Sucess!

My Trails Illustrated/National Geographic Map had shown a distance of 6.9 miles one way. Once I reached the trailhead, I saw the sign said 6.9 miles was the distance to Juniper Basin. To Tanque Verde Peak was 9.0 miles one way. Psychologically made it harder but the day turned out to be perfect. Absolutely beautiful views with much solitude.
