Nice early-spring ascent
Beautiful clouds for the entire morning. This kept the temp down. Hiked from Mahogany with JQ. Hit Rogers and Bennett on the way back. Wildrose the day before.
This was my second time high on the mountain, but my first summit. A couple years ago, I hiked from badwater with friends up the standard ridge from shorty's . . . on reaching the main ridge below the summit of telescope we were too *tired* to go to the top.
Camped out at Mahogany Flat CG. Very windy with below freezing overnight temps. Still some snow on the trail. Windy and cold on the summit. Great views in all directions.
Nice dayhike. Bagged Bennett and Rogers on the way down.
Hit Wildrose and Telescope on a weekend. Mahogany Flat is a nice campground for those who need basic necessities but there are excellent backcountry spots on the trail up to Telescope. This area makes for a great weekend trip.
Only my second trip above 10,000 feet.
Nice walk, great views.
Hiked up to the summit the following day. Great view
Great hike and an amazing view!
I got a late start and did most of the ascent in the dark. My car, being small and vulnerable, made it only to about 5,000'. I camped near a humongous, out-of-place-looking snowfield in a saddle within a mile of 2 of the summit. Great, peaceful, had it to myself.
Hiked up Telescope from Mahogany Flat.
Started at 2 or so in the morning from Shorty's Well with Shin and Adam and finished at Mahogany around 4 pm. All time great day hike with plenty of scree slopes and ridge following.
Windy with few people.
1989 Spring hike with some snow, Great hike, cloudy and no view, will have to do it again
Did the hike from Shorty's Well and out to Mahogany Flats where we had dropped a car. Nice little dayhike.
I made it. Shoty's Well to the summit. Perfect weather. Just enough snow to scrape up some water on top. 58 hours round trip.
Main trail up, Over Bennett/Rogers and back the service road on the way down.
Little hazy on the summit and it was pouring in Panamint Valley off to the west.
Pics and commentary here.
Hiked with my wife, Pattie, and son, Matthew. Matt made it up in 2:20; it took us a little bit longer. Nice, though somewhat hazy views.
This had been on my to do list for quite a while. It was nice to get it on a really nice weather day. It was 117 in the Valley but we stayed at Mahogany Flat and were treated to a great star show and nice temps. I went up the service road to get Rogers first and picked off Bennett on the way out. I was the only one on the peak which seemed strange since it is so popular.
